The Affirmative Action on Gender Equality Network (AGEN) has continued to strengthen its role as one of Tanzania’s leading grassroots organizations. Guided by the Grassroots Empowerment Model (GEM), AGEN has integrated gender equality, agroecology, civic engagement, and volunteerism to empower marginalized communities.
Key highlights from this period include:
- Financial transparency: Independent audits confirmed accountability, with revolving funds managed responsibly for community-based organizations such as NIGE and SEPRO.
- Programmatic achievements: Establishment of the Iguguno Community Seed Bank in Singida, expansion of community revolving funds, and support for Tanzania Men’s Day.
- Strategic partnerships: Membership in PELUM Tanzania and the Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC) strengthened advocacy and collaboration.
- Student engagement: Over 40 SUA students contributed to voter education, election observation, and community outreach, gaining hands-on experience in civic responsibility.
- Human rights advocacy: Through platforms like Jukwaa la Mijadala Huru TZ, AGEN defended civic freedoms and amplified marginalized voices.
- Men’s Development Report 2026: AGEN contributed to reframing masculinity around dignity, partnership, and national development.
As Tanzania advances toward Vision 2050, AGEN remains committed to scaling GEM, strengthening community resilience, and defending dignity and justice. Together with partners, students, and grassroots leaders, AGEN continues to stand as a safe space for defenders, a united voice for communities, and a pillar for a better tomorrow.
